Course Description

This session offers a hands-on approach, providing finance teams with the essential skills and tools to excel in sustainability reporting. Through real-world scenarios and practical exercises, participants will be empowered to actively contribute to and enhance their organization’s sustainability reporting initiatives.

Pre-requisite:

Ideally, participants have some background in finance or corporate reporting, with a basic awareness of sustainability principles.

Understanding Climate Resilience – Key Aspect of ISSB S2	Introduction to Climate Risks: An overview of physical and transition risks, including extreme weather events, policy changes, and technological shifts. Identification and Prioritization of Climate Risks: Techniques for identifying climate risks through risk assessments and scenario analysis, along with methods to prioritize these risks based on their potential impact. Strategic Responses to Climate Risks: Guidance on integrating climate risks into business strategy, setting sustainability targets, and aligning with global frameworks like TCFD and ISSB S2.
Financial Implication Framework – Practical ISSB Guidance	Introduction to the Financial Implication Framework: Participants will be introduced to the purpose and structure of the tool. They will gain an understanding of how the framework helps organizations brainstorm and identify climate-related risks, such as physical and transition risks, and the associated response strategies. Mapping Climate Risks and Response Strategies: The training will guide participants through the process of developing appropriate response strategies to the climate risks identified. The session will also focus on how these strategies can be assessed in terms of their financial implications—both in terms of cost and potential financial benefits. Assessing Financial Impacts: The core of the session will cover how to use the tool to evaluate the financial impact of climate risks and strategies. Participants will learn to quantify risks and their potential costs or benefits, as well as how to incorporate this information into decision-making and long-term financial planning. Getting ready for assurance: In the last part, we will include a brief session on how to get ready for external assurance, the fundamental steps needed in getting your data and reported disclosures verifiable by an independent third-party. Practical Application and Case Studies: Real-world examples and case studies will be used to demonstrate the practical application of the Financial Implication Framework. Participants will work through sample scenarios to better understand how to apply the tool to their own organizations.
